Upper Extremity Prosthetics

Prosthetic upper extremity is less commonly seen in the world of limb loss.  With our experience of mechanical arms and myoelectric hands, we are able to provide a full array of service.

One of the challenges with upper extremity limb loss is balancing functional goals with durability.  Then on top of this often times how a prosthetic hand looks will be added to these mobility concerns.

Our goal at Kickstart O and P is not to push you into a high end, high reimbursement hand, but to sit down with you and look at your needs and what is going to work for you in the long term.  This is not a sprint, it is a marathon for your daily life and making the right choice in upper extremity prosthetics can range from reasonable to incredibly expensive depending on the desired technology.  

Lower Extremity Prosthetics is the most common type of amputation seen.  Over half of lower extremity prosthetics are due to diabetic and vascular issues.  The remaining amputation causes are from Trauma, Cancer, and other more obscure issues.  

We make  our own prosthetics in-house in order to keep the level of quality and control, as well as turn-around times under our control.

Just like in pediatrics, functional goals and outcomes are the drivers for how we design and choose componentry for you.  Because we are the only local and independently owned orthotic and prosthetic company left in Spokane, we are not incentivized to sell any particular foot or part for bonuses or discounts.  

We will have open conversations about what you need, and are happy to give you suggestions and brands to check out before moving forward with finalizing a prosthesis.   

Being able to be on your feet as much as you need is important for work, function, and outcome.  We will spend the time to get your socket fit right and will have you test it int he real word before making the final Prosthesis.
